“Making the gospel–the good news of the coming of the kingdom–accessible to all in word and deed.”
“Many people with disabilities and their families live entirely outside the care of the Church or on the fringes of local congregational life. A variety of barriers–both architectural and attitudinal–have prevented them from being reached in their communities or included in the life of the local church.”
“For when our churches make the gospel accessible to individuals with special needs and their families, while showing equal concern:
- Individuals are transformed. They experience the life-changing power of the gospel at work in their lives as they know Christ personally and feel the loving hands and feet of his people at work in their lives.
- Congregations are transformed. They learn to love more as Jesus loved and function as they were intended, with all their parts.
- Communities are transformed. People in our communities see the Church authentically love and respect our neighbors with disabilities which demonstrates the authenticity of our gospel message.”
