In searching for an ASL teacher for one of our families, Lisa Fielder, a local sign language teacher contacted me with the following information. She created the following groups, when she first started teaching so that her students could have exposure and learn hands on. These groups are still going 5 years later and kid friendly. This will give everyone learning ASL some exposure and opportunity to practice their skills.
*Happy Hands at the Mall (Hamilton Place) meets every Thursday 430-630/7 in the Food Court, Chattanooga, TN.
*Deaf Chat Chattanooga meets the 3rd Saturday of every month at 10 am at Starbucks at 2217 Hamilton Place Blvd, Chattanooga, TN
*These two deaf chats started off the Chattanooga groups:
*Deaf Chat Ft Oglethorpe , GA, meets the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10 am at Panera Bread
*Deaf Chat Cleveland, TN meets the 4th Saturday of every month at 10 am at Panera Bread.
Even if you are not deaf or hard of hearing, if you looking to improve your conversational skills with those who may use American Sign Language as their primary communication, you are welcome to join these groups.
