I am regularly asked the question “Is there a LifeLine near me?” by people who live outside of Tennessee and Georgia. While LifeLine is a stand-alone organization, there are other organizations who offer services similar to LifeLine’s Special Education Services. To find an organization near you who provides services through the PTI (Parent Training & Information) grant or the CPRC (Community Parent Resource Center) grant from the US Department of Education, you can consult their master list of currently funded organizations. (This list does not included previously funded organizations like LifeLine who may still be providing services without a grant.)
“Families with a child who has a disability often need information about the disability of their child, about early intervention (for babies and toddlers), school services (for school-aged children), therapy, local policies, transportation, and much more. Every State has at least one Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) to offer families just this kind of information. Many States also have a Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC), which offers the same type of support and training to parents of children with disabilities.” Click here to search for the organizations near you. http://www.parentcenterhub.org/find-your-center/
*Be aware that not all PTIs and CPRCs are created equal. Different organizations leverage resources differently and they also have committed to different grant objectives. So, while PTI and CPRC services are all similar, they may not all be identical. PTIs and CPRCs rarely have similar names. In most cases, the name is the organization that houses the grant.
