“A microboard is a small group of committed family and friends who join together with an individual with a disability to create a non-profit organization.”
“Microboards and Cooperatives provide natural supports to the individuals who are the focus of their collective energy. They can also become providers of services under Tennessee’s Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver programs. To gain approval as a provider of services, Board Members will need to know the steps involved in becoming a provider of services to people with disabilities in Tennessee and how to comply with the rules and regulations that come with the financial resources of the individual with a disability. The Tennessee Association of Microboards and Cooperatives, Inc. currently provides help in these important areas:
- Public policy review and advocacy
- How to incorporate a non-profit organization
