On July 1, 2016, Tennessee became the first state in the country to develop and implement a Home and Community Based Service Program that is specifically geared toward promoting and supporting integrated competitive employment and independent living as the first and preferred option for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program is the ECF CHOICES waiver and it includes integrated competitive employment and day services options. The new waivers goal is coordination of behavior/physical/HCBS services that will focuses on preventative support services to avoid crisis and enable with competitive employment and independent living options. The ECF CHOICES Waiver’s primary focus is intended to create a pathway to employment – there are 14 levels of supported employment included in this waiver plus other benefits such as respite, family and individual supports, and transportation. This new waiver will be managed by Managed Care Organizations such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Join us to hear from one of the ECF CHOICES Waiver consumer advocates and learn about the ECF CHOICES waiver, levels of supports and service, eligibility criteria, and where and how to apply for this new waiver program. A Question and Answer session will follow the presentation.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Parents of students who have a diagnosis of intellectual or developmental disabilities, teachers, transition coordinators, aging caregivers. case managers, transition age students, anyone who interfaces and provides services to families affected by disabilities whether pediatrics or adults, physicians, school guidance counselors, nonprofit representatives who would like a better understanding of this new option for families. This waiver is for Tennessee residents.
